Here's aquick Rundown of last Thursday (September 14th, 2006)
Spiritual Gifts
- Spiritual Gifts are given by God not acquired or learned (However, there are talents that are aquired and learned)
- Spiritual Gifts are God Given, Unique, And Given to Every Believer
1. They are real- from God, for God, for our use in service to God
2. Every Christian has (at least 1) spiritual gift
3. Not all Christians have the same gift
There are consequences in having/knowing your spiritual gifts!
The “Burden of Knowledge” – You have the responsibility to:
1. Develop your gifts (Maximize your skills)
2. Use your gifts!

I think the scariest thing for me is actually using my gifts. Especially the less tangible gifts like words of wisdom. What if what I'm saying isn't really from God? I doubt myself a lot. With giving, it's not so hard to act on that one. You really can't go wrong with giving, right? But words of wisdom or prophecy - that's a bit more scary.
How is everyone finding the test and stuff so far?

Good one Rebekah! I especially like the visual. Well-replicated.
My biggest gift-oriented problem is to fall into being task-oriented instead of people-oriented. And then it comes back to Dawn's doubts, "what if..."
And then my excuse becomes "by DOING these things I'm actually FREEING other people to use their gifts!" But let's face it, I'm just plain-not-using-all-my-gifts when I start to justify like that.

The implication of knowing your gifts is that you are compelled to exercize them. Spooky. Jesus said that there are very serious consequenses for not using what he gave you.
BTW, words of wisdom and prophecy are both on my list. Scary is right. How do I practice words of wisdom?

I'm not sure how you would use words of wisdom - you aren't that wise ;)

i see where corrie gets his wisdom self-doubt from...dawn!
if we don't make use of our gifts, why would God let us keep them? exercise sounds like a plan.

Look Rachel! . . . I'm NOT lurking! Not saying that I ever was. . . just establishing a small point.
Anyways, I've found the best way to grow confidence in God's word of knowledge, and prophecy through you is to. . . guess what? Practice! Shocker, I know! But the more you do it, the more comfortable it becomes. But the other thing I've discovered is that when I doubt the word the most because it seems so crazy, so beyond me, or doesnt make sense, that I have to speak it if it is burning within me for that person's life. I find those times, the word is the most pertinent to the situation. I suppose because God's ways are so above ours and even our thought patterns; as to defining what is the most appropriate word or instruction according to our flesh or knowledge. God wants to use us in ways that are bigger than ourselves and beyond what our minds can fully comprehend because then we know without a shadow of a doubt that it is God doing the work not ourselves.

(((hugs Jody)))
Like Corrie says, the body wouldn't be able to function without all the body parts, that includes the fingers and toes.
I also remember him mentioning a few weeks ago that we even need our baby toes, apparently for balance. . . What if both of mine are broken, am I imbalanced? :P heh
