ODDS & ENDS. A Variety of Things.

In regards to the last post. Well…that discussion went well. DOES ANYBODY READ THIS THING?

Dear Dianna & Rachel, my faithful readers. I think you’re great.

In regards to Rachel's comment, A New Kind of Christian by Brian McLaren helped situate my faith in terms of the post-modern discussion. It is written in a narrative style, which helps to balance the mass of information it communicates, but it still may take awhile to wade through.

Welcomes. This week will be the Blocks' first Convergence. Welcome, welcome, welcome and we’re REALLY glad you’re here!!!

This week, Convergence will include a shorter time of worship and CJ introducing himself to the group, followed by mingling, munchies, & music.

Job opportunity. A couple from the church is looking for a full-time, live-out nanny for their one-year old son. They live in the Arbutus area and require some light housekeeping & meal preparation. The start date is flexible, but no later than early August. Contact me at youngadults@broadwaychurch if you are interested or have any questions.

Singles ministry. For those of you who feel that Convergence is not providing you ample assistance in the search for your significant other, worry no longer. We've completed extensive market research, and I leave you with the top Christian pick-up line of the week, guaranteed to sweep a girl's feet from beneath her.

I don't see it myself, but people tell me I look like Michael W. Smith.*

*CAUTION: do attempt to use this line outside of Christian circles. Side effects may include...

  • Jamie - I saw your sister in Toronto in April. It was weird...we were both buying food at the same convience store!! Ok. Well, the only convience store in the univerisity we were at.

Say hi to Amy for me!

  • Good line, Jamie. I think it even surpasses the tried and true: "Can I pray with you?" and "The Lord told me that I should come and talk to you."

Nathan's right--Convergence was rad on Thursday (despite ensuing ice cream stomach ache). Thanks for sharing, Corrie!

  • jamie: you're loved as well, thanx for continuously posting despite the small discussion base. i will have to take a look at that book...any suggestions where i might borrow such a book as i have less than no money?

nate: reading without commenting is called lurking and is VERY frowned upon! how hard is it for an intelligent computer-oriented professional such as yourself to type a simple sentance? (ps...that came out more mean than endearingly sarcastic, you know what mean it the latter way =P)

random suggestion: maybe we should start some sort of incentive program for the blog to motivate reader-ship. you know, like, win a romantic dinner with jamie or something of the sort. or was that too "single's minestry" related for you? well, we can work out the finer details.

one more thing...jamie, you are a phenomenal leader and i personally, as i'm sure do many others, appreciate more than i can express what your hard work and love of the group has meant to us in the absence of a titled pastor. you've been (i'm going to say it, i really am) a great pastor to us and the group would not be where it is without you. you've taken us beyond "waiting" and brought us to a place where we are in the right place for corrie to jump in and take us to a new level of personal and corporate growth. big hugs and kisses to you!

    final thought: corrie rocks!

  • Jamie: Whatever. I happen to know you're willing to hand out a nuzzle here and there for the TRULY faithul readers ;)

Nathan: So funny! I'm a dork (and also hard of hearing).
